• Daily Mail and General Trust (DMGT) has entered into exclusive negotiations to acquire Telegraph Media Group from RedBird IMI.
• The proposed transaction is reported to value the business at around £500 million. • Slaughter and May is advising DMGT on the proposed acquisition.
• Talks follow RedBird IMI’s earlier attempt to secure control of the Telegraph titles, which collapsed after political and regulatory concerns over foreign state-linked involvement.
• If completed, the acquisition would increase DMGT’s share of major UK national newspapers in a market already dominated by a small number of publishers.
